Founded in 1987 Southern Realty has brokered miles of intracoastal frontage along the Matanzas River for preservation and promoted research and responsible planning through relationships with the University of Florida’s Whitney Lab, Florida State University’s Coastal and Marine Lab, The National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Florida Wildlife Federation. Crescent Beach is one of the few remaining areas in Northeast Florida with Class II Waters open to commercial and recreational oystering and clamming. The Matanzas Inlet is the last undredged inlet on the east coast of Florida and hosts an incredible diversity of healthy marine life.
Past preservation sales include the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings beach house, the O’Brien House, the Mellon Estate, the Silver Sands Motel and Genung’s Fish Camp.
Conservation projects include sale of Moses Creek Conservation Area, SE Intracoastal Park (adjoining Fort Matanzas), Mellon Island, the River to Sea Preserve, and easements on farm lands through the Rural and Family Land Protection Program.
