Since opening in 1987, Southern Realty has been the leader of oceanfront sales in St. Augustine and has been instrumental in the preservation and conservation of the area. Oceanfront property and beach neighborhoods have been our mainstay for over 30 years but we sell real estate all over the county. We are active in the South Anastasia Communities Association and are often times privy to properties our neighbors might sell but don’t want on the open market.
We are very protective of Crescent Beach and value its history and health. Crescent Beach is one of the few remaining areas in northeast Florida with Class II Waters open to commercial and recreational oystering and clamming. The Matanzas inlet is the last undredged inlet on the east coast of Florida, contributing to an incredible diversity of healthy marine life in the Matanzas River. This area is one of the healthiest and most pristine environments in the state, and we feel that it is important to keep it that way.
Past preservation sales include the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings beach house, the O’Brien House, the Mellon Estate, the Silver Sands Motel and Genung’s Fish Camp. Conservation projects range from the sale of Moses Creek Conservation Area and the Southeast Intracoastal Park (adjoining Fort Matanzas National Monument) to Mellon Island, the River to Sea Preserve, Matanzas State Forest, and easements on farm lands through the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program. We also promote research and responsible planning through relationships with the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, Florida State University’s Coastal and Marine Laboratory, the National Estuarine Research Reserve and the Florida Wildlife Federation.
